GPP Plays:

Ben Roethlisberger, QB

I keep going back to Big Ben as a tournament favorite in Week 1. The talk all off-season has been how Ben is done and needs to retire. People seem to be as low on him as possible, which should keep his ownership very low.

In his only pre-season action, Ben completed 8/10 passes for 137 yards and 2 TD’s. He looked fantastic. There’s also so many stacking options with the Pittsburgh WR’s, TE’s and Najee Harris. Not to mention the Bills are a very good team and favorites in this game, so the Steelers should be forced into passing situations until the very end.

Odell Beckham Jr., WR

I just can’t figure out why OBJ is being slapt on as much as he is in this spot. I know he didn’t have the best season last year while healthy, but people are forgetting just how good this dude can be and how much upside he brings.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about OBJ out of camp, he has a good matchup against KC, the projected total is very high in this game and Cleveland are underdogs which should keep them in passing situations. All signs lead to OBJ being a great tournament play in Week 1.

Logan Thomas, TE

Logan Thomas is a fantastic GPP option based off of ownership alone. People are either going to pay up for Kelce/Kittle or they’re going to go to chalk Kyle Pitts for value. Thomas’s ownership will be nothing.

Thomas was quietly on of the better TE’s in fantasy last year and he just got an upgrade at QB. I expect big things from him this year and we can get him at no ownership in Week 1.

Ryan Tannehill, QB

Per usual, Tannehill is being slept on. Currently projected for under 5% ownership, I believe Tannehill could be the #1 scoring QB on the entire slate. While most of the Tennessee attention usually goes to Derrick Henry, Tannehill is also coming of of an incredible season in which he threw for 3,900 yards, 34 TD’s and just 8 INT’s. He also scored 26+ DraftKings points 6 different times.

He also just got a new weapon that just happens to be one of the best WR’s in NFL history. Not to mention he’s playing in the second highest projected total for Week 1. I love Tannehill as a sleeper QB in this spot.

Devonta Smith, WR

People seem to be taking a wait-and-see approach to Devonta Smith, which gives us an opportunity to grab him at low ownership in Week 1.

In a fairly high total game against a team that was historically bad vs WR’s last year, I love taking a shot on the Eagles rookie WR here in Week 1.
