Cheat Sheet:

Core Breakdown:

C.J. Beathard, QB

I don’t have much interest in QB at all on this slate. Both teams are going to be playing 3-4 QB’s total, which results in none of the QB’s having fantastic playing time. I am still going to pick 1 QB from each team as my ‘favorite’ fot those who want some exposure to the position.

Beathard had the most playing time in week 1 for JAX. He completed 13 of 16 passes for 102 yards and 1 TD. He’s my favorite QB for Jacksonville.

Taysom Hill, QB

Again, I’m not excited to play any QB on this slate, but if I had to pick a favorite from NO it would be Taysom Hill because of his rushing upside alone. Because he has multiple ways to get the job done I believe he gives us the best chance at a TD.

Tony Jones Jr., RB

With Kamara out and Latavious Murray not expected to play a whole lot, Tony Jones Jr. looks primed for a lot of opportunity once again in preseason week 2. Jones Jr. played 23 snaps in preseason week 1, running for 82 yards and a TD on 7 carries. He also caught all 5 of his targets for 38 receiving yards. A RB getting this much usage and playing time is hard to come by in the preseason. I love Jones Jr. again this week and believe he is captain viable.

Collin Johnson, WR

Johnson is another captain viable guy I’m looking to this week. He played a massive 32 snaps in week 1 and rana  team high 23 snaps. He did only manage 1 fantasy point on all of the opportunity but I’m not letting that scare me away from him. He’s a guy who should get a lot of opportunity again and maybe the lack of production last week keeps his ownership down.

Ty Montgomery, WR

Ty played 28 snaps in preseason week 1 and caught 2 passes for 27 yards. He’s another guy who I expect to see get a lot of opportunity in this game.

Marquez Callaway, WR

Callaway managed 3 catches for 61 yards on 20 snaps in preseason week 1. He should once again see a decent amount of playing time and I like him a lot as a flex option.

Lil'Jordan Humphrey, WR

Humphrey saw a ton of playing time in the first preseason game. He played 34 snaps, ran a team high 23 routes and caught 3 of his 5 targets for 29 yards and a TD. He’s a guy who should have a lot of opportunity once again in this game and I think he’s captain viable as well.

Josh Hammond, WR

Hammond is yet another WR who was well involved in the offense in week 1. He played 21 snaps, ran 18 routes and caught 6 of his 7 targets for 55 yards. I wouldn’t expect to see quite as much usage in this game, but he is a viable play at the flex spot.

NO & JAX, D/ST

Due to the nature of not only showdown slates, but specifically preseason showdown slates, both defenses are viable on this slate. With the over/under sitting at 40 I wouldn’t say they’re captain viable this time around but I do believe both DST’s are fine plays and I do think you can comfortably roster both of them in the same lineup.
